Why go up to San Miniato al Monte (sagrato e belvedere)
San Miniato al Monte (sagrato e belvedere) is a scenic viewpoint in Florence, in the San Niccolò & Piazzale Michelangelo area.
The Romanesque abbey above Piazzale Michelangelo has stood here for a thousand years. From the steps in front of its marble façade Florence is the same picture as from the square below, only wider and quieter. Free; the monks still sing in the church, and the abbey lists its hours on its website.
